 That is yearly growth rate 1.3% and a populations-density of 275person per km².

 The life expectancy is men 67 years and women 72 years.

 The population consists of the following ethnic groups:

•  Sinhalese74%,
•  Tamil 18%,
•  Moors 7%
•  Others 1%

Religions

From the religious point of view the population consist of

•  69% Buddhist (Sinhalese),
•  15% Hindu (Tamil),
•  8% Moslems (moors),
•  7% Christians,
•  1% others
